On May 16th, members of the Black Horse SCV Camp conducted maintenance at the family cemetery of Private Thomas F. Moore in Marshall, VA.
Thomas enlisted in the Confederate Army in July 1861 as a Private in Company G (Markham Guards), 49th Virginia Infantry. Later that year, the unit was re-designated as Company A (Fauquier Artillery), 38th Battalion, Virginia Light Artillery. The battery disbanded in 1865 and returned home to Fauquier County.
Thomas married Lucy Rector about 1865 and had seven children. He was a farmer and served as the U.S. Postmaster for the Orlean Post Office from 1890-1893. Thomas passed away in November 1917 at the age of 77.
